ELEGANT TEXAS BUNKHOUSE

The big Texas sky meets the wide-open spaces of this luxurious Texas bunkhouse.  Built as a weekend retreat for Fort Worth residents, the contemporary lines of a dramatically angled shed roof jut proudly into the blue. Exterior finishes take advantage of materials supplied by the area’s natural resources: rough cut stacked stone and cedar accents are all that is needed to define a style that owner Delynn has coined, “Modern Americana”.  It’s a winning look that is carried through in all the interior design choices, and we can’t wait to show you inside.

This is a home that is built to last: the welcoming front porch roof is supported by soaring steel beams wrapped in cedar and anchored solidly in the earth.  You can’t help but notice the symmetry in the approach: twin sets of triple transom windows, and twin bedroom wings each providing access to the expansive horizon views, add to the uncomplicated architectural statements.

Once inside, prepare to experience the quintessential definition of an open floor concept. There is absolutely nothing to obstruct your view or your ability to soak up the light and space of this multi-function room.   An impressive kitchen island rises seamlessly up from the gorgeous stained concrete floors, providing prep and gathering space. Those stained concrete floors, by the way, are a recognizable signature of an AOS home, and Delynn lists them as one of her favorite features. It’s their ease of cleaning and the way they complement the overall look of the home that she loves.

We love the bold, tasteful choices of the home’s palette that set it apart from typical ranch houses in the area. Every hard surface is softened by rich, smoky tones of taupe, charcoal, umber, and earth, whether it be in the shaker cabinetry, bath vanities, countertops, or custom trim work. The not-so-secret ingredient here is the tile choices that accent the backsplashes, wet areas, and feature walls. Influenced by their travels to Portugal, a country famous for its hand painted tiles, they add a touch of vintage elegance and femininity to a house that is intended to function in a rugged, outdoor environment.

You’ll find these features in the master suite as well; it’s a retreat flooded with light provided by a large picture window, and private outdoor access. The master bath boasts an oversized walk in shower, a double vanity, linen storage, and a generous walk-in closet, and once again, those beautiful patterned tiles.

There’s plenty of space for guests in the opposite wing. The Bunk Room has ample space for 4 with a feature wall of lockers and cubbies for hunting and fishing buddies to hang and store gear.  You’ll find the same in the private guest quarters, with this locker providing media storage and hanging space. The guest bath is softened with white shiplap, tiles and trim, the background for a generous double sink vanity. Wall mounted faucets, round mirrors and Edison bulb fixtures are a nod to that “Vintage Americana” look.

Did you ever expect a mudroom to provide a home’s “wow” factor?  Well, here it is!  Entering from the rear, a contemporary door with sidelights leads you to the star of the room:  a custom tiled shower for the family dog- a place to clean up after the day’s hunting and fishing excursions. Opposite the shower, another locker is accented with barn wood salvaged from an old structure on the acreage, paying homage to the property’s heritage. (It’s that same barnwood that fronts the beautiful kitchen island.) There’s also a generous storage area for all the necessary gear that goes along with this outdoor lifestyle.  The mudroom unapologetically makes the overall statement of this home: casual elegance meets no fuss functionality!

Given its standout creative features, it seems appropriate that the beginning of the search for the right builder of this Texas Bunkhouse began in a tile store.  AOS was recommended to the owners by Cornerstone Tile in Fort Worth.  Delynn says, “We were initially impressed with BJ- his personal, yet no nonsense approach to our vision.  Throughout the process I became increasingly impressed with everyone associated with AOS as well as their subs.  All were attentive to detail and quickly responded to all our questions and concerns.  There were probably more times where they were pushing us along to make decisions & complete tasks vs. the other way around as we have experienced with past builders!  I would HIGHLY recommend AOS to anyone searching for a home builder.  It was a positive experience from beginning to end.”

We promise not to push you along, but satisfied clients mean that All Over Solutions is increasingly in demand. Is it time to get your vision on our job board?
