MINIMALIST FAMILY ABODE
Casey and Lissa Oliver built several homes in the last few years as their family has grown. The family needed a home that suited the specific needs, to make their space practical and useable. They were returning customers with All Over Solutions because they trusted them with their vision of a minimalist family home for their five daughters to grow up in. They trusted that they would be taken care of in the building process, because of their past experiences and felt that AOS had first hand knowledge of their unique taste and style.
Some of the special features of the Oliver’s home include their custom island table in the kitchen, hand-built by Casey out of reclaimed railroad ties. They spend a lot of time in their kitchen so they knew that the oversized island was a necessity. Their open concept living space is perfect for community with the focus being on young families. Amenities like a picture window above the bar allow them to keep an eye the kids outside while the parents can visit around the table. For the brick on the home they wanted lighter colors, to bring the outside into the home, to create a light feel in the home.
For their five kids, they chose two bedrooms with bunkbeds lining the walls along with a shared walk-in closet, roomy enough for five sets of clothes, accessible from multiple points. The bedrooms include cubbies and storage space for each child, so that even though they are sharing they have their own individualized space and storage. The children’s rooms are a perfect example of the minimalist family home approach they were aiming for.
With the minimalist aesthetic that the family was aiming for they chose black doors, minimal built-in furniture and crisp warmer tones for their tile to contrast with white walls and cabinets. They wanted a white and clean canvas as a backdrop to their full family life and their minimalist style. Their home is functional but also stylish and current; storage is a focus in the home making it practical and functional for their kids to grow up in. The family chose to use only three colors throughout the home, a minimalist approach to create a cohesive pallet. They used the color Dovetail from Sherwin Williams on both the interior and exterior board & batten. The interior walls and trim were painted the same shade Shoji white, also by Sherwin Williams, the walls a flat finish and the trim semi-gloss. The dramatic black door color Caviar, inside and out, adds to the minimalist style of the home.
The minimalist family home was built for the Olivers with community in mind, a place for their family to make memories and enjoy spending time with friends. They were able to work with All Over Solutions to create the ideal space for their family.
